Intake Manifold Flange Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement.
3. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement
4. Remove the intake manifold flange bolts (1).

Important: After the intake manifold flange is removed, mask off the ports to prevent foreign objects from entering the engine.

5. Remove the intake manifold flange (2).





6. Clean the cylinder head sealing surfaces with a non-abrasive tool or solvent.

Installation Procedure





1. Remove the masking from the cylinder head intake ports.





2. Ensure the seals on the intake manifold flange are properly seated and installed.
3. Install the intake manifold flange (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the intake manifold flange bolts (1).
Tighten the intake manifold flange bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
6. Install the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement
7. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
