Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the intake air resonator.
3. Remove the radiator.
4. Remove the condenser tube connector bolt at the condenser.
5. Remove the condenser tube from the condenser.




6. Remove the condenser.
7. Transfer the receiver/dehydrator and the brackets.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Insert the condenser guide pins into the rubber grommets in the frame to install the condenser.




2. Install the condenser tube to the condenser:
^ Use new O-rings.
^ Lubricate the O-rings with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the condenser tube bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

4. Install the radiator.
5. Install the intake air resonator.
6. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
7. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400-A.
