Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair




REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the wiring harness from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor (1).
2. Remove the A/C low pressure line bracket.
3. Remove the hold down bolts for the wiring harness to the intake plenum to gain access to the sensor.
4. Remove the fastening bolt for the CMP sensor.
5. Remove the CMP sensor and the O-ring seal from the camshaft cover.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the CMP sensor (1) and the camshaft cover.
2. Install the CMP sensor with a new O-ring seal into the camshaft cover.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the fastening bolt for the CMP sensor.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

4. Install the hold down bolts for the wiring harness to the intake plenum.
5. Install the A/C low pressure line bracket.
6. Connect the wiring harness to the CMP sensor. Ensure the correct cable routing.
