Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair
EXPANSION (ORIFICE) TUBE REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System
^ J 38042 Dual O-Ring Tube Separator
1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Loosen the O-ring joint using the J 39500-B.
3. Separate the tubing halves.
4. Remove the expansion tube (1) from the A/C tube (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector
1. Lubricate the O-ring with 525 refrigerant.
2. Install the expansion tube (1) into the A/C line (2).
3. Connect the O-ring joint.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Tighten the dual O-ring joint.
Tighten
Tighten the O-ring joint to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Reposition the line (1) to its original position in the plastic hold-down clamp.
6. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
7. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing.
