Heater Core: Service and Repair
HEATER CORE REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
2. Remove the instrument panel assembly.
3. Remove the heater core cover fasteners (1).
4. Remove the heater core retaining fasteners (1).
5. Remove the heater core retaining straps.
6. Remove the heater core.
7. Remove the heater core case seals.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector and
J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System
1. Install the heater core.
2. Install the heater core retaining straps.
3. Install the new heater core case seals.
4. Install the heater core retaining fasteners (1).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Torque the fasteners (1) to 1.4 N.m (13 lb in).
5. Install the heater core cover fasteners (1).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Torque the fasteners (1) to 1.4 N.m (13 lb in).
6. Install the instrument panel assembly.
7. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
