Timing Cover: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement.




2. Remove the drive belt idler pulley.
3. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.





4. Remove the front cover bolts.
5. Remove the front cover and gasket. The gasket is reusable. Do not discard unless it is damaged.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Installation in Engine / Service and Repair / Unit Repair.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Installation in Engine / Service and Repair / Unit Repair.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the drive belt idler pulley.
Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement.
