Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair

EXPANSION (ORIFICE) TUBE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 26549-E Expansion Tube Remover Kit
^ J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
2. Remove the refrigerant line screw and the clip.
3. Disconnect the evaporator inlet pipe connection.




4. Use a J 26549-E to remove the expansion tube.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector




1. Use clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to coat the O-rings.
2. Install the expansion tube into the pipe with the short screen towards the evaporator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Install the expansion tube dual O-ring joint.

Tighten
Tighten the dual O-ring joint to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Install the refrigerant line screw and the clip.
5. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
6. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing. Leak Testing
