Torque Converter: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Starting and Charging.





3. Remove the converter housing access plug.
4. Mark the converter and flywheel for proper alignment for installation.





5. Remove the flywheel to converter bolts.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the flywheel to converter bolts. Hand start the bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).





2. Install the converter housing access plug.
3. Lower the vehicle.
