Shift Cable: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Set the parking brake.
2. Disconnect the shift cable (1) at the manual shift lever.
3. Remove cable out of bracket (2).





4. Remove the console trim plate (1).





5. If equipped with (T1A) Regular Production Option (RPO) Code, remove the anti-theft plate from the shifter.





6. Disconnect the shift cable at the shift control assembly.





7. Unplug the shift cable grommet at the cowl panel and remove the shift control cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the shift cable through cowl panel and seat the grommet.





2. Connect the shift cable to the shifter assembly.





3. If equipped with RPO Code (T1A), install the anti-theft plate with the tamper proof fastener to the shifter using the tamper proof fastener bit.





4. Connect the shin cable (1) to the transmission.





5. Adjust the cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment
6. Install the left console trim plate (1).





7. Install console trim plate.
