Compressor Shaft Seal: Service and Repair

COMPRESSOR SEALING WASHERS REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the A/C compressor.
3. Remove the compressor hose sealing washers.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the compressor hose sealing washers:
^ Use new sealing washers.
^ Lubricate the sealing washers with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.
2. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Compressor Replacement.
3. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
4. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
