Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair

EXPANSION (ORIFICE) TUBE REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 38042 Dual 0-ring Tube Separator
^ J 39400 Electronic Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Loosen the 0-ring joint using the J 39500-B.




3. Separate the tubing halves.




4. Remove the expansion tube (1) from the A/C tube (2).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Lubricate the 0-ring with 525 refrigerant.
2. Install the expansion tube (1) into the A/C line (2).




3. Connect the 0-ring joint.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Tighten the dual 0-ring joint.

Tighten
Tighten the 0-ring joint to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).




5. Reposition the line to its original position in the plastic hold-down clamp.
6. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging..
7. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400.
