Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

A/C REFRIGERANT LOW TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400 Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the low side temperature sensor.




3. Unscrew the A/C low side temperature sensor (1) from the evaporator hose assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Ensure the low side A/C temperature (1) sensor has an undamaged O-ring installed. Lubricate the low side A/C temperature (1) with a light coating of refrigerant oil.

Install the A/C low side temperature (1) sensor to the refrigerant line.

Tighten
Tighten the low side temperature sensor to 7.5 N.m (66 lb in).




2. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
3. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
4. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400.
