Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor pigtail.
2. Remove the knock sensor (KS) pigtail retaining clip from the CMP sensor.
3. Remove the bolt securing the CMP sensor to the camshaft bearing cap.
4. Remove the CMP sensor from the camshaft bearing cap.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the CMP sensor and the camshaft bearing cap.
2. Install the CMP sensor into the camshaft bearing cap.
3. Install the bolt securing the CMP sensor to the camshaft bearing cap.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the CMP sensor bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

4. Attach the KS pigtail retaining clip to the CMP sensor.
5. Connect the electrical connector to the CMP sensor pigtail.
