Replacement Procedure (LHD)

BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE REPLACEMENT (LHD)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:
- Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
- Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.




2. Remove the bolt (1) securing the battery negative cable to the side rail.
3. Disconnect the body harness connector (3) from the battery negative cable.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the starter shield.




6. Disconnect the cable harness clip from the coolant inlet pipe.
7. Remove the bolt securing the battery negative cable to the engine block.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Remove the battery negative cable from the engine.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the battery negative cable to the engine.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Install the bolt securing the battery negative cable to the engine block.

Tighten
Tighten the battery negative cable to engine block bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

4. Connect the cable harness clip to the coolant inlet pipe.
5. Install the starter shield.




7. Install the bolt (1) securing the battery negative cable to the side rail.

Tighten
Tighten the battery negative cable to side rail bolt to 36 N.m (27 lb ft).

8. Connect the body harness connector (3) to the battery negative cable.
9. Connect the battery negative cable.
