Rattle/Buzz Type Noise From Under Engine Compartment During Acceleration/Deceleration (Replace Catalytic Converter Bracket Assembly)

Models:
2003-2004 Cadillac CTS
Built Prior To VIN Breakpoint 40159439

Condition

Some customers may comment on a rattle/buzz type noise coming from under the engine compartment whenever the vehicle accelerates or decelerates.

Cause

This rattle/buzz type noise may be due to the breaking/cracking of the catalytic converter support bracket at the transmission case attachment points.

Correction





An improved bracket assembly is now available from GMSPO.

Replace the existing catalytic converter bracket assembly with P/N 15143600. Refer to Catalytic Converter Hanger Bracket Replacement in the Engine Exhaust sub-section of the Service Manual.
