Bulletin No.: 08-06-05-004B

Date: June 03, 2009

Subject: Aligning Exhaust Heat Shield Insulator Rear Mounting Holes When Replacing Insulator

Models:
2005-2006 Cadillac STS

Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to update the exhaust heat shield insulator part number. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-06-05-004A (Section 06 - Engine).

This bulletin is being issued to inform technicians and parts managers about a change in the exhaust heat shield insulator mounting holes for the 2005-2006 Cadillac STS.

Whenever a repair requires replacement of the exhaust heat shield insulator, the rear mounting holes will not align to the original mounting holes.

The exhaust heat shield insulator has been changed to be common between the STS and CTS.

Using the new part, P/N 25964069, as a template:

1. Align the front mounting holes of the part to the front mounting holes in the body.
2. Mark the location of the new rear mounting holes on the body.
3. Drill two 8.5 mm (0.33 in) holes in the body.
4. Apply corrosion inhibitor to prevent rust.
5. Install the new exhaust heat shield insulator.
