Engine Flywheel Replacement

Tools Required
^ J45059 Angle Meter
^ J44214 Flywheel Holder

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the transaxle.
2. Install the J44214 to the engine block.





3. Loosen the flywheel bolts.
4. Remove all but one of the flywheel bolts, leaving the one bolt at the top of the crankshaft.
5. Grasp the engine flywheel with one hand and remove the remaining bolt. Do not drop the engine flywheel when removing the final bolt.
6. Clean and inspect the engine flywheel.

Installation Procedure





1. Apply sealant, GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the flywheel bolts.
2. Place the engine flywheel in position against the crankshaft.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the flywheel bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts a first pass to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the bolts a final pass an additional 50 degrees using the J45059.





4. Remove the J44214 from the engine block.
5. Install the transaxle.
