Knock Sensor: Service and Repair



KNOCK SENSOR (KS) REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the intake manifold.
2. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor wiring harness electrical connector (3) from the right knock sensor, if required.




3. Disconnect the CKP sensor wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the left knock sensor, if required.




4. Remove the appropriate knock sensor. (cylinder heads shown removed for clarity).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the appropriate knock sensor.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the sensor to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




2. Connect the CKP sensor wiring harness electrical connector (2) to the left knock sensor, if required.




3. Connect the CKP sensor wiring harness electrical connector (3) to the right knock sensor, if required.
4. Install the intake manifold.
