Steering Wheel Replacement

Tools Required

* J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller
* J 42578 Steering Wheel Puller Legs

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to Restraint System Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
3. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.




4. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.




5. Install J 42578 and J 1859-A to the steering wheel.
6. Using J 42578 and J 1859-A, remove the steering wheel.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the steering wheel.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the steering wheel retaining nut.

Tighten the nut to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).




3. Connect the steering column electrical connector.
4. Install the inflator module.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
