Liquid Line Replacement (LS2)

Tools Required

* J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
* J 45689 A/C Quick Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner from the vehicle.




3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the A/C high pressure switch (2).






Important: The body of the tool (1) should be parallel to the A/C line.

4. Using J 45689 disconnect the liquid line to condenser tube quick joint by pressing the probe end into the 2 small openings on the quick joint.




5. Remove the liquid line from the strut tower retaining clip.
6. Using J 45689 disconnect the suction hose at the evaporator fitting.
This will allow access to the liquid line fitting.




7. Using J 45689 disconnect the liquid line at the evaporator fitting (1).
8. Remove the liquid line from the vehicle.
9. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

1. Coat new O-rings with refrigerant oil. Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
2. Install the liquid line into the vehicle.




3. Connect the liquid line to the evaporator.
4. Install the A/C quick connect clamp (1) on the line.

Important: Squeeze the clamp together until you hear the clamp engage.

5. Engage the clamp.
6. Gently tug on the liquid line to ensure that the clamp is engaged.
7. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator.
8. Install the A/C quick connect clamp on the line.
9. Connect the liquid line at the condenser tube.
10. Install the A/C quick connect clamp on the line.
11. Gently tug on the liquid line to ensure that the clamp (2) is engaged.




12. Secure the liquid line into the strut tower retaining clip.




13. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the high pressure switch (2).
14. Install the air cleaner assembly.
15. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
16. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
