ABS/TCS - TCS Messages Displayed/DTC C0561

Bulletin No.: 07-05-25-002

Date: August 21, 2007

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Intermittent Service Stabilitrak and Traction System Off Message Displayed on DIC, Traction Control Off Indicator Light On, DTC C0561 Set (Reprogram EBCM)

Models:
2006 Cadillac XLR-V - Built After VIN Breakpoint 65601619
2007-2008 Cadillac XLR-V - Built Prior to September 1, 2007

Condition

Some customers may comment about the following conditions:

The DIC displays the Service Stabilitrak message.

The DIC displays the Traction System Off message.

The traction control off indicator light turns on.

Upon investigation, the technician may also find DTC C0561 with symptom code 71 set as current or in history.

Cause

The cause of this condition may be due to the EBCM incorrectly receiving and processing the brake pedal position rolling count signal that is transmitted from the BCM to the EBCM. This signal should be transmitted every 10 ms and captured data shows that the signal is being transmitted between 8 and 13 ms. This variation in data rate results in the EBCM either missing a rolling count value or incorrectly calculating the protection value.

Correction

A revised calibration has been developed to address this issue. Reprogram the electronic brake control module (EBCM) with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration is available on TIS2WEB using the Service Programming System (SPS). As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
