Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Ring Replacement

Tools Required

J 44253 ABS Reluctor Installer

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution (Brake Dust Caution) .


Removal Procedure





1. Remove the wheel speed sensor (2). Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3))Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7)) .





Important: Do not reuse the wheel speed sensor reluctor after it has been removed.


2. Remove and discard the wheel speed sensor reluctor (1).



Installation Procedure





1. Apply Loctite(R) to the inner portion of the wheel speed sensor reluctor (2).
2. Insert the wheel speed sensor reluctor (2) onto the hub assembly.
3. Install the ring (1) of the J 44253 onto the wheel speed sensor reluctor.




4. Insert the J 44253 (1).

Important: Turn the J 44253 until it just touches the ring of the J 44253 .


5. Turn the J 44253 (1) to thread the wheel speed sensor reluctor.
6. Install the wheel speed sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3))Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7)) .
