Subject: Sunroof Reverses Direction During Express Close Operation (Replace Sunroof Window Motor and Sunshade Motor)

Equipped with Sunroof (RPO C3U)

Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to add the vehicle build breakpoint. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 09-08-64-007 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Condition
Some customers may comment that the sunroof will reverse direction and re-open when attempting the express close operation.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the anti-pinch feature activating as a result of a tight interface condition between the sunroof tracks and the mechanical arm assembly.
Correction
Important
DO NOT replace the sunroof frame when the above condition is noted.
Important
If the sunshade spring tension releases, it will be necessary to rewind it. Refer to Step 1 of the installation procedure within Sunroof Sunshade Replacement in SI.
Replace both the sunroof window motor and the sunshade motor. Replacing both is necessary due to an internal software change in the motors. Refer to Sunroof Motor/Actuator Replacement and Sunroof Sunshade Motor/Actuator Replacement in SI.
