Assembly End Play Measurement

* J 39686 - Input End Play Check Tool
* J 8001 - Dial Indicator Set

1. Install the J 39686 - input end play check tool into the case barrel and install the post.




2. Locate the J tab on the input shaft (604). The arrow on the tab should have a 90 degree orientation.
3. The washer must rest flat on the case cover seal. Rotate the threaded shaft clockwise until tight. Leave enough space for the collar.
4. Insert the collar. Install the J 8001 - dial indicator set.




5. Push down on the handle and check the end play. The end play specification is 0.10-0.85 mm (0.004-0.033 in).
If the measurement is out of the specification range, determine the appropriate selective thrust washer (522) for installation upon reassemble.
6. Remove the dial indicator and the post.
