Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.




2. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose (1) from the power steering pump.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement (Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement).




6. Remove the power steering pressure hose bracket nut (2) from the stud on the right rear part of the cylinder head.
7. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose (1) from the stud.




8. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose retainer (2) from the frame.
9. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose (1) from the power steering gear.
10. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the power steering pressure hose (1) in the vehicle.
2. Connect the power steering pressure hose retainer (2) to the frame.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear. Tighten the power steering pressure hose fitting to 34 Nm (25 lb ft).




4. Connect the power steering pressure hose (1) to the stud on the right rear part of the cylinder head.
5. Install the power steering pressure hose bracket nut (2) to the stud and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
6. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement (Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement).
7. Install the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Lower the vehicle.




9. Connect the power steering pressure hose (1) to the power steering pump. Tighten the power steering pressure hose fitting to 34 Nm (25 lb ft).
10. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
11. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
