Fuel Level Sensor: Service and Repair

Primary Fuel Level Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Warning (Service Precautions).


1. Remove the primary fuel tank module. Refer to Primary Fuel Tank Module Replacement (Primary Fuel Tank Module Replacement).





Note: Do not pull on the connector wires.

2. Press in the locking tab (1) and disconnect the fuel level sensor electrical connector.




3. Disconnect the fuel level sensor electrical connector (1).





Note: Do not touch the resistor circuit board.

4. Disengage the locking tab (1) on the fuel level sensor by pushing inward.




5. Slide the fuel level sensor (1) upward to the stationary lock (2).




6. Remove the fuel level sensor (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the fuel level sensor (1).





Note: Do not push on the electrical terminals.

2. Slide the fuel level sensor (1) downward until the locking tab (2) locks into place.





Note: Do not push on the electrical wires.

Note: Ensure the connector locking tab is fully seated into the flange.

3. Connect the fuel level sensor electrical connector (1).
4. Install the primary fuel tank module. Refer to Primary Fuel Tank Module Replacement (Primary Fuel Tank Module Replacement).
