Knock Sensor 1 Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Sedan,Wagon) Service and RepairBattery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Coupe) Service and Repair.
2. Remove the left catalytic convertor. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LSA) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LF1) Service and Repair.
3. Remove the left exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LSA) Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LSA).
4. Remove the mounting bolt for the knock sensor 1.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector of the knock sensor from the engine harness (3).
6. Remove the knock sensor (2) from the engine block (4).

Installation Procedure




1. Reconnect the engine harness (3) and the knock sensor (2) electrical connectors.
2. Position the knock sensor 2 on the engine block (4).
3. Install the mounting bolt (1) for the knock sensor 2.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Tighten the knock sensor mounting bolt (1) and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
5. Install the left exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LSA) Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LSA).
6. Install the left catalytic convertor. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LSA) Service and RepairCatalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LF1) Service and Repair.
7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Sedan,Wagon) Service and RepairBattery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Coupe) Service and Repair.
