Fuel Injector Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1 Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1 or Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2 Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2.

2. Disconnect and remove the fuel rail wiring harness (1).





Note: Large, sturdy snap ring pliers can help with this.

3. Taking care not to touch or apply force to the injector tip or electrical connector, remove the fuel injector retainer (1) by spreading both sides at the same time. Discard the retainer.

4. Holding the largest diameter/body of the fuel injector only, indicated by the arrow, Use a slight twisting motion to remove the fuel Injector (2) from the fuel rail.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a NEW injector bushing (1) to the injector body.




2. Install the following components:

1. White plastic spacer (3).

2. Brown plastic spacer (2).

Note: Lubricate the O-ring with clean 5W 30 engine oil.

3. O-ring (1).





Note: Ensure the correct location of the injector electrical connector.

Note: Use a slight twisting motion to install the fuel injector into the fuel rail.

3. Holding the largest diameter/body of the fuel injector, insert the fuel injector into the fuel rail.

4. To complete the installation and alignment of the injectors refer to Fuel Rail and Injectors Cleaning and Inspection (LF1, LFW or LFX) Fuel Rail and Injectors Cleaning and Inspection (LF1, LFW or LFX), as necessary.

5. Install the fuel rail wiring harness.

6. Install the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1 Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1 or Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2 Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2.
