Governor Valve Replace

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove air cleaner, if necessary.

2. On vehicles with air conditioning, if necessary, remove the five heater core cover screws, then disconnect the electrical connectors and position heater core aside.

3. Disconnect exhaust pipe and converter and allow to hang down.

4. Support transmission, then remove transmission rear support bolts and propeller shaft and lower transmission until enough clearance is obtained, remove governor.

5. Remove governor retainer ring and cover, then remove governor and washer. If governor to case washer falls into transmission, use a small magnet to remove it. If it cannot be easily removed, replace the washer with a new one.

6. To install governor, reverse removal procedure. Do not attempt to hammer governor assembly into case, as damage to governor, case or cover may result.
