Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

1984 Models

1. Remove air cleaner.
2. Connect three jumper wires between TPS harness and TPS, Fig. 170.
3. With ignition on and engine not running, measure voltage between sensor terminals B and C, Fig. 170, using a digital voltmeter.
4. In the closed throttle position, voltmeter should read .450-.600 on 1984 4-121 overhead valve engines, and .450-1.250 volts on all other models.
5. Rotate TPS as necessary to bring voltage within specifications. Tighten screws and recheck voltage.
6. Turn ignition off and remove jumper wires.
