Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

Ignition related problems such as overheating, backfiring, afterfire and engine run-on can be corrected by adjusting ignition timing.

ENGINE WILL NOT START/HARD START (CRANKS OK)

1. Incorrect ignition timing.
2. Faulty ignition coil.
3. Faulty module.
4. Faulty 11A.
5. Faulty spark plug wiring.
6. Faulty spark plugs.
7. Disconnected or broken 11A wiring.

ENGINE CRANKS SLOWLY

1. Insufficient battery voltage.
2. Loose, corroded or worn battery cables.
3. Faulty starter.

ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK

1. Insufficient battery voltage.
2. Loose, corroded or worn battery cables.
3. Faulty neutral safety switch.
4. Blown fusible link.
5. Faulty starter.
6. Faulty ignition switch.

ROUGH IDLE OR STALLS

1. Faulty spark plugs.

ENGINE HESITATES OR POOR ACCELERATION
