This bulletin cancels and supersedes Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin 88-50-3B dated October, 1987. Included in this bulletin are part numbers for both 1987 and 1988 cavalier steering columns. All copies of bulletin 88-50-3B should be discarded and replaced with this bulletin.
In the event a steering column must be replaced in a 1987-88 Cavalier, use the part numbers listed below:
1987 1988 CAVALIER MODELS
7844369 26006871 with manual transmission,
pulse wiper and tilt wheel
7844367 26006872 with auto transmission,
pulse wiper and tilt wheel
7844371 26006873 with automatic transmission,
pulse wiper, without tilt wheel
7844373 26006874 with manual transmission,
pulse wiper, without tilt wheel
DO NOT use the 1987 or 1988 part numbers listed in group 6 of the parts book as these will create a "phantom wipe" problem.
