Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Troubleshooting Hints

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
1. If the Air Mix Door is disturbed for any reason you must disconnect the battery or the Heater and A/C Control Assembly momentarily to start the calibration sequence. During the calibration process the blower motor will not operate for approximately 1 1/2 minutes.
2. After an Outside Temperature Sensor has been changed or is open, the external temperature will read - 38° and code 02 will be set until the A/C has run for 3 minutes or the CTSY/CLK FUSE is pulled and then reinserted.
3. If the A/C system delivers cold air then hot air while the vehicle is moving, check for a loose rod between the Air Mix Valve and its motor.
4. When performing any vacuum diagnosis, the Heater and A/C Programmer must be positioned vertically, as it is in the vehicle. If the Programmer is tilted the vacuum solenoids will stick causing a possible misdiagnosis.
