L-6 ENGINES
C, K, R & V Models
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2. Remove air cleaner.
3. Disconnect accelerator cable and detent cable (automatic transmission models) from carburetor throttle lever..
4. Disconnect all engine wiring that will interfere with engine removal.
5. Disconnect radiator hoses from radiator and heater hoses from engine.
6. Remove radiator attaching bolts, then the radiator.
7. Remove fan and water pump pulley, then disconnect fuel line from fuel pump.
8. Remove hood.
9. Raise and support vehicle, then remove starter motor.
10. Remove flywheel or torque converter splash shield.
11. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold and wire pipe aside.
12. Remove engine mount through bolts.
13. On automatic transmission equipped vehicles, remove torque converter to flex plate attaching bolts.
14. On K and V models, remove strut rods at motor mounts.
15. Support transmission, then remove bellhousing to engine retaining bolts.
16. Lower vehicle.
17. Attach a suitable engine lifting device and remove engine from vehicle.
18. Reverse procedure to install.
