Side Cover: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove alternator and bracket and secure alternator aside.
3. Remove brace between intake and exhaust manifold.
4. Disconnect lower radiator and heater hoses.
5. Remove oil pressure sending unit and disconnect wiring harness brackets from side cover.
6. Remove side cover retaining nuts and the cover.
7. Ensure old sealant is removed from cover and block mating surfaces, then apply a continuous bead of RTV sealant, 3/16 inch wide, to cover sealing surface.
8. Install side cover and torque retaining nuts to 90 inch lbs., then reverse remaining procedure to complete installation.
