Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Lamp Control Module: Description and Operation

Voltage is applied at all times through the Tail Fuse (Cavalier, VIN JC) or Fuse 11 (RS, VIN JE and Z24, VIN JF) to the Light Switch. With the Light Switch in HEAD or PARK, voltage is applied through the Light Switch, INST LPS Fuse (Cavalier, VIN JC) or Lamp Dimmer Module and Fuse 4 (RS, VIN JE and Z24, VIN JF) to the various Instrument Panel Lights.

Instrument Panel Lights can be dimmed using the rheostat in the Dimmer Switch. When the Dimmer Switch knob is turned clockwise, the rheostat's resistance increases, voltage applied to the Instrument Panel Lights decreases and the Instrument Panel Lights dim.
