Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

System Bleeding

1. Fill clutch master cylinder reservoir with clutch hydraulic fluid 12345347 or DOT 3 brake fluid. It may be necessary to remove ECM from mounting bracket to gain access to reservoir. If a squeaking noise is present in clutch master cylinder, drain DOT 3 brake fluid from clutch hydraulic system and fill with clutch hydraulic fluid part No. 12345347 or equivalent.

2. Raise and support vehicle.

3. Remove actuating cylinder attaching bolts and lower cylinder to a point below the catalytic converter, then remove bleeder screw cap.

4. Hold cylinder in horizontal position with bleeder screw vertical.

5. Fully depress and hold clutch pedal, then open bleeder screw.

6. Close bleeder screw, then release clutch pedal.

7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all air has been purged from system, remount actuating cylinder and repeat inspection. Check and fill master cylinder reservoir, as needed, to ensure no air is drawn into system during bleeding.
