Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Service and Repair

Replacing Thermac Vacuum Motor:





REMOVAL:

1. The air cleaner housing and element.
2. The vacuum hose from the motor.
3. Drill out the two spot welds initially with a 1.6 mm (1 1/16 inch) drill bit. Enlarge the hole as required to remove the retaining strap. DO NOT damage the snorkel tube.
4. The motor retaining strap and the motor, with the linkage.


INSTALLATION:

1. Drill a 2.8 mm (7/64 inch) hole into the snorkel tube at the center of the vacuum motor retaining strap.
2. Attach the vacuum motor linkage into the damper door assembly.
3. Using the motor retaining strap and sheet metal screw, provided in with the new part, attach the new part into the snorkel. Be sure to inspect the new screws for interferance with the damper door operation. Shorten the screws if necessary.
4. Attach the vacuum hose to the new motor, and install air cleaner housing assembly.
