Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Hold pump pulley from turning by compressing drive, then loosen pump pulley bolts.
2. Loosen bolt, holding pump to mounting brackets, release tension on drive belts.
3. Move belts out of the way, then remove pump hoses, vacuum and electrical connections and control valve.
4. Pulley then pump.
5. If required, insert needle nose pliers and pull filter fan from hub.

INSTALLATION

1. Install pump assembly and tighten mounting bolts. Install hoses, electrical and vacuum connections.
2. Place new fan filter on hub if necessary, then spacer and pump pulley against centrifugal filter fan. Tighten pulley bolts equally to 18 lb ft to press the filter on to the pump. Do not hammer on filter. If new filter is installed it may squeal until seated on pump.
3. Install and adjust belt and check for proper system operation.
