1. To avoid personal injury when servicing models equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System, temporarily disarm system. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. Pull column housing end toward from of vehicle and remove cover, Fig. 29.
3. Disconnect electrical connector and grommet.
4. Pull outward on multi-function lever to release from detent.
5. Reverse procedure to install. When installing, position lever in off position, then align lever tab with mounting slot.
6. After completing service procedure activate Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
