Passenger Compartment Sensor


1. Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2. Remove knee bolster, refer to KNEE BOLSTER.
3. Remove console.
4. Remove heater air distribution duct.
5. Remove CPA and disconnect passenger compartment discriminating sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove sensor retaining bolts, then the sensor.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install sensor with arrow pointing toward front of vehicle. Torque bolts to 25 inch lbs.
b. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
c. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
