Timing Cover: Service and Repair

Fig. 9 Engine Front Cover Replacement:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove throttle body air duct.
3. Remove water pump as described under WATER PUMP.
4. Remove crankshaft damper and hub as described under CRANKSHAFT DAMPER & HUB
5. Remove ignition distributor.
6. Remove oil pan as described under OIL PAN.
7. Remove front cover retaining screws and the front cover, Fig. 9.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
