Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Accessory Signal: Description and Operation

ECM Wiring Diagram:

Purpose:
The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) disables cruise control and TCC (on A/T equipped vehicles) when Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR) is activated. A double throw relay is used to turn "OFF" the cruise control, as well as to turn "ON" the "ASR ACTIVE" indicator in the Drivers Information Center (DIC).

Operation:
During an ASR event the ECBM, via the cruise control cut-off relay, cancels cruise control and signals the ECM to cancel TCC operation while at the same time illuminating the "ASR ACTIVE" indicator.

Location:
The cruise control cut-off relay is located below the instrument panel, left of the steering column.
