Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

Fuel Filter Replacement:

NOTE: Before replacing a fuel filter it is necessary to relieve fuel system pressure.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury when the fuel line is disconnected, cover the fuel line with a shop cloth to collect the fuel, and then place the cloth in an approved container.

Disconnect or Remove:
1. Raise car on hoist
2. Remove fuel filter bracket
3. Disconnect the quick connect fitting from chassis fuel pipe
4. Remove threaded outlet fitting from chassis fuel pipe
5. Remove the filter from the car.

Install or Connect:
1. Install the new filter to chassis fuel pipe
Torque Value: 27 Nm (20 lb.ft.).
2. Install fuel filter bracket
3. Connect quick connect fitting to fuel filter inlet
4. Lower the car.
5. START the engine and inspect for leaks.
