Drive Belt: Service and Repair

Serpentine drive belt routing. 7.4L/V8-454:

1. Using a 1/2 inch breaker bar with a socket placed on tensioner pulley axis bolt, rotate tensioner counterclockwise.
2. Remove belt from pulleys.
3. Route new belt as shown in Fig. 25.
4. Using breaker bar and socket, rotate tensioner pulley axis bolt counterclockwise and slip belt over tensioner, then release tensioner. Tensioner is spring loaded and will return to its' original position when released.
