Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Service and Repair

Wax Pellet Installation:

Remove or Disconnect:
- Vehicle air cleaner assembly.
- If application has a plastic heat tube elbow, use an 1/8" drill bit to drill out the two rivets that secure it to the heat tube and remove elbow. If application does NOT have an elbow, skip this step.
- Use an 1/8" drill bit to drill out the rivets that secure the wax pellet carrier assembly.
- Remove the blow down spring.
- Remove the wax pellet carrier assembly.
- Examine spring clip on the hot air damper. Replace if necessary.

Install or Connect:
- Install new blow down spring.
- Reinstall plastic heat tube elbow in the correct orientation, using two pop rivets. If application does NOT have an elbow, skip this step.
- Reinstall air cleaner assembly on vehicle.
- Check thermostatic air cleaner to ensure proper operation.
