Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Catalytic Converter Connections:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle and intermediate exhaust pipe with safety stands.
2. Oxygen sensor electrical connection.
3. Nuts from exhaust manifold pipe and the clamp from the rear of the converter.
4. Separate the intermediate exhaust pipe from the converter and remove the catalytic converter assembly.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Position the catalytic converter to the intermediate pipe.
2. Clamp onto the rear of the converter.
3. Make sure the intermediate pipe and converter are in proper alignment and torque the catalytic converter clamp to 60 Nm (44 lbs ft).
4. Flange gasket and nuts to exhaust manifold and torque nuts to 20 Nm (15 lbs ft).
5. Oxygen sensor electrical connection.
6. Check for clearance and alignment.
7. Remove the support from intermediate exhaust pipe and lower the vehicle.
