Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair

Idle Air Control Valve Pintle Retraction (Manually):

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Electrical connector from Idle Air Control (IAC) valve.
2. IAC valve attaching screws.

NOTE: Before installing new IAC valve, measure the distance that the valve is extended. Measurement should be made from motor housing to end of cone. Distance should he no greater than 28 mm (1 1/8 inch). If the cone is extended too far, adjustment is required or damage may occur to the valve when installed. Adjust IAC by manually compressing or extending the pintle to achieve the correct length.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New IAC valve in the intake manifold. Use new O-ring gasket supplied with assembly. Tighten IAC valve attaching screws to 3.0 Nm (27 in lb).
2. Electrical connector to IAC valve.
3. Cycle ignition ON then OFF to reset IAC.
4. Start engine and allow engine to reach operating temperature.
5. The PCM will reset the IAC whenever the ignition switch is turned ON, and then OFF.
