Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor:

NOTICE: Care must be taken when handling Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Damage to the ECT will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain coolant.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. ECT electrical connector.
5. Carefully back out engine coolant temperature sensor from coolant pump.


INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Coat threads with sealer.
2. Install sensor in engine.

Tighten
^ Sensor to 23 Nm (17 lb. ft.).

3. Connect electrical connector.
4. Lower vehicle.
5. Replace lost coolant.
6. Connect negative battery cable.
