Ignition Rotor: Service and Repair

IGNITION ROTOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39997 Ignition Distributor Cap Socket (E-4 Thin Wall Torx Socket)
J 39998 Ignition Distributor Rotor (T-9 Male Torx Bit)

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

NOTE: The distributor and timing disk must be kept clean and free of oil, dirt and engine coolant. Any contamination may lead to engine misfire and distributor damage. Do not disassemble the distributor until all coolant has been cleaned from the distributor and surrounding area.

1. Remove distributor assembly from engine. Refer to Distributor Replacement.
2. Remove distributor cap refer to Distributor Cap Replacement.
3. Remove two rotor retaining screws and remove rotor.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Install rotor to distributor.
2. Rotor bolts/screws using J39998 or equivalent. Tighten screws to 0.7 Nm (6 lb in).
2. Install distributor cap.
3. Install distributor to engine.
